Hidden cost of procrastination...

No course. No flow. Pushing back the dates. What??!!

This was my recent revelation.

It's simple.

I was procrastinating.

Even though I help people avoid that, I was doing it.

It sneaks up on you.

Bit by bit.

Small stuff.

“I’ll do it tomorrow.”

‘It’s not perfect.”

You get the picture.

But there is a hidden cost - fear.

Fear does two things:

It stops you from starting.

Or because you haven't started, it sneaks up so you start to feel fear.

In either case, it’s not good.

For me it was confusing.

Why am I procrastinating?

I know this stuff, I'm aligned, no reason for me to drag things.

But there was.

I want to do things right, so a little bit of ‘perfectionism’ sneaked in.

And perfectionism had a root cause in self-worth/self-love.

Then I realized where my challenge was.

Now this is very important for you to understand because these things go under the radar and you want to catch them:

Because I made my life very simple and easy, I have all the time in the world to do what I want.

With that aside, I fell into the trap I tell others to avoid falling into: “Don't let your thoughts run loose.”

And that’s what happens when there is no strict schedule.

You see people do more under constraints.

If you give yourself an hour to do something, you will do it.

But also, if you have a whole day free, you will take the whole day.

I fell into that trap, and in that trap what my mind was hearing was “You’re not good, you’re not finishing projects.”

So that started to build unconscious self-sabotage - procrastination, fear of perfection.

I caught it, on time.

So the moral of the story:

Yes, you need alignment, you want to remove any resistance towards your goals, yet sometimes just scheduling things and making sure things happen in that schedule might just be the solution.
